Each painting begins with a field of color. Sometimes a single bold mark, sometimes several at once. Then comes the response: more color, gestural line, collage. Nothing is planned very far ahead.
The work lives in the conversation between layers — what's underneath pushing through, what's on top redirecting. It's done when the eye keeps moving and nothing feels resolved too easily.

The painter behind the color
I've lived in Las Cruces for fifteen years and the landscape is in everything I make, even when the painting doesn't look like a landscape. The light, the scale, the rawness.
I work on canvas with acrylic, collage, and whatever else is nearby. The collage goes down first — layers of paper and texture that give the surface a real physical presence before the paint arrives. Most of these paintings begin somewhere unexpected and end somewhere I couldn't have predicted.
Every original ships from my studio in Las Cruces, signed by hand, with a note about the work.
